BirCar Privacy Policy
DRAFT — for legal review before production launch.
Last updated: 15 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the BirCar mobile application ("BirCar", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your information. By using BirCar you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
BirCar is a driver-to-driver communication service in Azerbaijan. It lets a driver enter another vehicle's licence plate and contact that vehicle's owner anonymously by voice call or message — without ever exposing either person's phone number.
For privacy questions or requests, contact us at vibelshan@gmail.com.
2. Anonymous vehicle-to-vehicle communication
BirCar is built around anonymity:
- You reach another driver using their licence plate, not their phone number.
- Phone numbers are never shown to other users.
- Calls are routed through our servers so neither party sees the other's number.
- A short-lived anonymous identifier is used to connect a call or chat.
3. Information we collect
Account data. Your phone number (used only to verify your identity by SMS one-time code), your display name, and optionally your city.
Vehicle information. The licence plate(s) you register, used to route incoming calls and messages to you. Plate ownership is based on an honour system and may be disputed and resolved by our administrators.
Calls. Call metadata (time, duration, the plates involved, and whether the call was answered, missed or rejected). Voice audio is transmitted in real time and is not recorded or stored by BirCar.
Messages. The content of chat messages and the predefined "quick messages" you send or receive, together with delivery and read status.
Ratings & reputation. Star ratings and feedback tags left after calls, used to show a driver's reputation.
Device & push data. A device identifier and a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) used to deliver incoming-call and message notifications.
Technical data. IP address, app version, and basic logs used for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
4. How we use your information
- To connect anonymous calls and messages between drivers.
- To deliver push notifications (incoming calls, messages, announcements).
- To show driver reputation (ratings).
- To detect, prevent and act on spam, harassment and abuse (see Moderation).
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. Push notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send incoming-call alerts, message alerts and administrator announcements. You can disable notifications in your device settings; doing so may prevent you from receiving incoming calls while the app is in the background.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers that operate the app on our behalf (cloud hosting, real-time voice infrastructure, SMS delivery, push notifications), bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
Other users only ever see your licence plate and reputation — never your phone number or precise identity.
7. Data retention
- Account and vehicle data are retained while your account is active.
- Call metadata, messages and ratings are retained for a limited period for safety, dispute resolution and abuse prevention, then deleted or anonymised.
- One-time SMS codes expire within minutes.
- When you delete your account, your data is removed as described below.
8. Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. Deletion is confirmed with a one-time SMS code sent to your phone. When confirmed, your account and associated data (vehicles, messages, calls, ratings, blocks) are permanently deleted by cascade, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes. Deletion is irreversible.
9. Reporting and blocking
To keep the community safe:
- Report — you can report another driver for spam, harassment, offensive language, threats, advertising or other reasons. Reports are reviewed by our moderators.
- Block — you can block another driver (including by plate). A block prevents further calls and messages between you and that user.
10. Moderation and abuse prevention
We apply automated and manual moderation to protect users from insults, harassment, threats and spam. This may include message risk scoring, rate limiting, temporary cooldowns, warnings, muting, suspension or banning of abusive accounts. Predefined official quick messages are always allowed.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. Contact vibelshan@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
12. Children
BirCar is not directed to children under the age required to hold a driving entitlement or to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
13. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
